How the game teaches comparing fractions
The big trap in comparing fractions is whole-number thinking: 8 is bigger than 4, so 1/8 must be bigger than 1/4. Nobody who has shared a pizza with eight people really believes that, but on paper it is an easy trap to fall into.
Bigger Slice puts two real slices side by side so the answer can be seen, not just reasoned. Pairs come in a deliberate order: same bottom number (compare the tops), same top number (the smaller bottom wins), then pairs with nothing in common, where the trick is asking which side of 1/2 each one sits on.

Questions
What grade learns to compare fractions?
In US Common Core, 3rd grade compares fractions with the same top or the same bottom (3.NF.A.3.d). 4th grade compares fractions with different tops and bottoms, using common denominators or a benchmark like 1/2 (4.NF.A.2).
Does the game cover different denominators?
Yes. Once a player handles same-top and same-bottom pairs, the game brings in pairs like 2/5 and 3/4, which are easiest to compare by checking each against 1/2.
Is the fraction game really free?
Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is coming later, but the web game stays free.

Take the bakery with you, soon
A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is on the way. The plan: offline play for the car, a parent report of which fractions have stuck, and the full bakery shelf of prizes. Until then, the whole game is free right here.
