Frequently Asked Questions

Can't see your question? Email fractionbakery@ingenuitylabs.net and a person will answer.

The game

Is the fraction game really free?

Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is coming later, but the web game stays free.

What age is it for?

Ages 7 to 11, roughly 2nd to 5th grade. Younger kids who know halves can enjoy the early levels with a grown-up nearby.

What fractions does it cover?

Denominators 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Kids work through unit fractions, naming fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, and adding and subtracting with like denominators.

Does it cover mixed numbers or multiplying fractions?

No. Answers stay between 0 and 1, and it doesn't cover unlike denominators, mixed numbers, or multiplying and dividing. We'd rather do the foundations well.

Why did my child's game end?

Each wrong answer costs a heart, and the run ends when they're gone. The questions also get harder from round to round, so every run ends eventually. That's the game: beat your best score.

Can I practice one topic?

Yes. Open equivalent fractions, comparing, adding, or any single fraction from the fraction wall.

Is it read aloud?

Yes, using your device's built-in voice. Some school devices have speech switched off; the words are always on screen too.

Teachers

Is it free for schools?

Yes. There are no accounts to set up and nothing to pay.

Can I put it on my class website?

Yes. The embed page gives you a snippet, and you can lock it to a topic.

Can I photocopy the worksheets?

Yes, as many as you like for your class. Please leave our web address on them.

Does it match the standards?

The ladder follows the fraction progression in US Common Core grades 3 and 4, and the by-grade map lists the standards. It isn't a complete curriculum.

Can I see student results?

No. There are no accounts, so there's no class dashboard. Progress stays on each device.

Privacy

Do you collect children's data?

No. No accounts, no names, no ads, and no third-party trackers. Game progress stays in the browser. Read the privacy policy.

Do you use cookies?

No. We count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies.

The app

Is there an app?

Not yet. An iPhone app is planned, and the app page lists what we expect it to add.

Take the bakery with you, soon

A Fraction Bakery app for iPhone is on the way. The plan: offline play for the car, a parent report of which fractions have stuck, and the full bakery shelf of prizes. Until then, the whole game is free right here.
